Calling all Bix Fans!! Listen Up!
While attending the Bix festival in Davenport this year, the folks from the Bix Beiderbecke Society were kind enough to show me the plans for the new Bix Beiderbecke Museum. Now, there has been talk of such a project going back at least to the 1950's, and the plans would usually fizzle out. To tell you the truth, I was a bit skeptical about the whole thing before my trip to Davenport. Instead, I met a group of wonderful folks who are doing their best to make sure that their hometown hero finally gets his due! And they are truly going out of their way to make sure that it will be done RIGHT! This can and will be the ultimate and fitting tribute to Bix. I've declared my full support and will help in any way that I can. Between what they have already collected for the Museum, the Phil Evans Collection and my own 40+ years of Beiderbecke archeology, I'm sure we can put together a tribute to Bix that will satisfy the most staunchest fans of Bix. Of course, something like this is going to take quite a bit of loot. And there will be fund raisers, great Jazz Concerts and other projects coming up soon to get this Museum up and running. So PLEASE! Do your best to help make this worthy tribute to Bix come together as soon as possible! When an event is booked for the Bix Museum, I'll be sure to post it here. Do whatever it takes to attend! Tell your boss that you've come down with consumption, that's always a good one. And we'll do some consuming together! Wheee. For more information, contact AND JOIN the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society at www.bixsociety.org. Be sure to tell them I sent you!! And don't be surprised if they say, "Who? Never heard of him!" Just joking! I hope...

A TRIBUTE SECTION DEDICATED TO PHILIP R. EVANS 1935 - 1999 A long overdue tribute to a man who was the hardest working researcher, and perhaps the most honest man I have ever known. This section will include many items that you have never seen before, as well as a few that have been around. The object here is NOT to try and impress the self-appointed and self-crowned heads of Bix or Jazz. This is for the kids out there today who have recently discovered Bix and perhaps 1920's-30's music in general. If it hit you like it did me at the age of 9, your fate is already sealed. So look around and enjoy yourself. You're bound to find many Bix Beiderbecke items that you have never seen before, as well as other hot bands of the 1920's! I'm adding newpages quite often, so add this to your Favorite Places & check back often! Please feel free to email me with any questions. Take a 37 page trip through Jazz History! Just click on the link below. New pages often!
