KL-1 BUNNY BERIGAN & LIONEL HAMPTON - Never before issued performances from Acetates! This CD contains very rare Radio Broadcasts of BUNNY BERIGAN from 1935 on Kate Smith's program, also selections from a Broadcast with TOMMY DORSEY & HIS ORCHESTRA, from May 1940. It also includes selections from a rehearsal of LIONEL HAMPTON'S SEXTETTE, recorded in 1941. It sounds more like a Jam Session than a rehearsal. Hamp plays piano as well as vibes on these sides! It also includes RUTH ETTING from a 1935 Broadcast with RED NICHOLS & HIS ORCHESTRA - MARY SMALL, a 12 Year Old Girl with a voice that has to be heard to be believed - JOE SULLIVAN playing GIN MILL BLUES on the Radio in 1940, and a few sides of Unknown Bands & Pianists. A really nice collection of recently discovered classic jazz! Keep in mind that some selections may be missing a bit of the opening or ending of a song due to the timing of the tune and the limitations of the disk space of the old acetates. But most are pretty complete. Most of Bunny's fans wouldn't care anyway, anytime they can hear something new by him, it's worth the price of admission!
